Snow Geese in PA

I've never before seen snow geese.  I've heard of them but this was a unique experience.  As I drove along Rt. 248 near Wilson, PA, I saw ahead a field that looked like it was covered with snow, but as I drove closer, I saw it was all geese.  This was just before Christmas 2014, maybe the 23rd or 24th.  I stopped and turned around to try to get pictures but the highway is two lane and very busy -- to dangerous to stop for very long.  I pulled into the parking lot of an old steel mill but I was still too far off to get a decent picture.  And by this time the bulk of the flock of thousands of birds were taking flight.  I drove back along the road and pulled off just opposite some of the remaining flock and got the picture below.  I almost got stuck in the mud!  But at least I got a picture of some of these beautiful birds.

Scotland in August

Very excited to think that Whimsical Grimm will be traveling to Edinburgh, Scotland in August this summer.  It would be nice to fly over to see the production but I just don't have time in my schedule.  Go HERE to learn more.  Unfortunately, they neglected to include the Playwright's name, whoever he may be.

In the meantime, I'm resuming work on Balderdash, the knock-off of a British Pantomime in the hope that I can shop it around and get a production happening.

The Last Trip to Arizona

I'm on the plane on the way to Phoenix and it will more likely than not be my last visit here.  It seems so strange to be at this point in my life.  I knew it was inevitable but really never expected it to happen.  Both of them are gone now.  I'm alone.  It feels awfully lonely to be coming back here and to know that their world is gone. The house is sold.  Their belongings have been sent to the seven winds.  I truly cannot go home again.  I guess my only home now is the Hollow.

It will be nice but also painful to see Polly, also for the last time.  When I get in Pop's car (now mine) on Friday or Saturday, I don't know what I will be feeling.  This will be the moment of finality, when I have to really say "goodbye" for the last time.  Goodbye to all those wonderful times out west, goodbye to the house that Ma & Pa loved so much, goodbye to the desert with its extraordinary starkness and color and light.

Gosh, I wish this plane would land.  My ears are getting stuffed, so I can feel we are descending.  Supposed to be 100 degrees today, tho' it will probably be a bit cooler as it will be well after 8pm when we land.

I just looked at some map program on my iPad and it showed SCW as the last outpost of civilization at the edge of Phoenix.  I don't know what that was all about but lately I've been feeling like I've been going sideways thru time.  I had a sudden moment when I hoped that I had traveled back 15-20 years and I would find my folks waiting for me at the airport.  I probably will never have anyone meet me at an airport ever again.  Yes, I'm ready for this plane to make a nice soft landing in the Valley of the Sun.

Giant Weather Front Hits Manhattan

I was crossing the George Washington Bridge on my way home. There was a tremendous storm heading in from the west. The view of the Hudson River with Jersey and Manhattan on either side was great! This was supposed to be a video, but it came thru as a still. Ok, I'm still working on it...

A Winter's Tale...

We had yet another day of snow squalls today but when it let up I went walking the back trail. Everything was monochrome like a black & white film.

What is it, exactly, that went through the ice on Flat Pond?

Yesterday, March 2, I went for my weekend woodland walk. On crossing Flat Pond I noted that there was a peculiarity in the ice on the pond. I wondered if it were a meteor crashed to earth not unlike the one that recently hit Russia. I guess I will have to wait for Spring to come to snorkel down to extract the very, valuable meteorite shards...

Goodbye to Facebook

I have decided, due to all the privacy and security concerns, to abandon Facebook. There are too many rules and regs and too many loopholes that I just don't want that to be my world. So, I have returned to BLOGGER and here is where I will make my online entries. If I end up with a smaller audience, so be it. Better that than to be exposed to a bigger, less controllable one.

The really annoying thing about FB is that sometimes when I post something that I think is important, there is no response. Then there is that ton of junk that pours in from "friends" who I barely know. I'm happier being here, in my own world. If the other world doesn't care, so be it. Neither do I!
